about

This is a track about fighting gentrification... as such, 15% of earnings will go to DW Enteignen, the movement to re-appropriate housing in Berlin.

The city has been suffering from gentrification and speculation for years, turning what used to be a decent place for people of all incomes into a casino for the ultra-wealthy, with house prices going up and rents becoming unaffordable for a large percentage of the city's residents.

lyrics

Can you see them building
Building up to nowhere
Can you see them building
High high high
Can you see them building
Building up to nowhere
Raising up their ladders to the sky sky sky

Can you feel the shadows
Moving through the city
Can you feel them follow us
Follow us around
Can you feel us hiding
Hiding in the shadows
Searching for the water in the ground ground ground

Can you hear us calling
Calling out together
Can you hear our laughter and our cries cries cries
Can you hear us joining
Curling roots together
Can you hear our voices
As we rise, rise rise

What will you be building
When they get to nowhere
Are you climbing up there - or planted with us now
Climbing up or planted
When they get to nowhere
What will you be building when it all falls down

(They come here
So we go there
They’re building up to nowhere)
